Our club intends to provide career development opportunities and engagement to students interested in national security and intelligence issues through research, dissemination, and discussion. We aim to create a community in which students from all disciplines can be empowered and interact with each other and with industry professionals to apply and enhance their personal knowledge of security studies, develop or enhance their knowledge in the broader realm of international relations, political science, and more. Students can additionally engage in panel discussions, a monthly professional speaker series, and other events with speakers from intelligence, security, and academic backgrounds. Topics of discussion will relate to a broad range of security problems such as domestic extremism, foreign interference in Canada, and more. In this fashion, students will be offered a valuable opportunity to build marketable skills including leadership qualities, problem-solving tendencies, research skills, and more. On the whole, we believe that engagement with industry professionals, gaining insights on security trends, and the promotion of a community of like-minded students will contribute to a valuable forum for students to pursue their career goals and advance into professional roles.
Our club provides multiple unique opportunities for students to cultivate their interests in national security and intelligence. A focus on providing students with academic and professional resources to gain insight on public policy, public safety, and national security space sets us apart from existing clubs. Our forum additionally will provide students with opportunities to engage in research, community discussions, debates, and other methods of analyzing the security landscape, thereby providing practical experience and prospects to enhance their professional skill sets. The events we plan on offering similarly provide unmatched and otherwise inaccessible benefits to members, such as discounted annual conference passes, 1-1 conversations with industry professionals, complimentary passes to monthly roundtable discussions, and more. Students may also refine their academic writing and research skills with the help of the Journal of Intelligence, Conflict, and Warfare (JICW), a branch of the club that provides research resources on emerging security problems. Thus, our club provides a comprehensive framework for students seeking to gain highly applicable experience and support integrating security, intelligence, and other related fields.
