Creative Industries Network (CIN) provides a space for students passionate about pursuing their creative interests as careers by building a network with industry professionals. Understanding that creative fields are often underrepresented, CIN focuses on using artistic passions along with the business acumen needed to establish and propel a career in their creative industry of interest. CIN aims to transform how students approach their passions by sharing the practical skills and knowledge that students need to succeed in their creative industry of interest as entrepreneurs. Through events, online resources, alumni mentorship, and connections with industry professionals, we aim to equip UBC students with the knowledge and confidence to break into the creative industries. The club started with a focus on four major industries, being Music, Dance, Film and Visual Arts. But we’ve since then diversified our focus to include more industries including Fashion, Beauty, Media, Graphic Design and Theatre and are continuing to highlight other niches of interest. By collaborating with local UBC and Vancouver-based talent, we nurture connections with industry professionals that allow us to develop and share with students the business resources necessary to launch careers in creative industries globally.
