As one of the most active student associations on campus since 1969, the UBC Geography Students’ Association (GSA) is dedicated to delivering a memorable student experience for every facet of university life: academic, professional, and of course, social.
Our members enjoy endless opportunities to meet new faces of the community through our social events, academic and professional mentorship program, world-famous BZZR gardens and pub trivia nights, and Bad Latitude intramural teams. Students can also look forward to chances to meet industry professionals at our Career Week events, engaging talks with professors and guest speakers, and the opportunity to platform their research at our Town Hall workshop conference.
And that’s not all– we also publish the recognized undergraduate journal Trail Six, run the GeoGarden, and throw a killer end-of-year celebration at Geogala. Because we know every student has a place in the GSA, we invite you to take advantage of our passion for having a great time (with great company!) by joining our community.
Throughout the year, the GSA hosts a variety of social, academic, and professional events aimed at enriching the student experience at UBC. Join us for:
We also have our mentorship program, the Geography Mentorship & Advisement Program (GMAP), created to provide individualized support to students through their academic and professional careers both during, and beyond their time at UBC.
Trail Six is a nationally-recognized academic journal, published annually by students at the University of British Columbia’s Department of Geography.
It exists to publish the exemplary scholarly work of undergraduate students within the field of geography in a peer-reviewed, academic setting.
Papers are submitted for blind review by a board of peer editors, after which they are voted on. Upon approval, Faculty members of the UBC Department of Geography are invited to review papers that align with their research interests and expertise. Reviewers and editors then collaborate with the authors to refine their writing before putting forward a final draft for approval by the Editor-in-Chief.
