UBC Political Science Students' Association

FOUNDED IN 1977, THE UBC POLITICAL SCIENCE STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION (PSSA) IS AN ENTIRELY STUDENT-RUN DEPARTMENTAL CLUB, SUPPORTED BY THE UBC POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT.

OUR MISSION

At the PSSA, we foster a tight-knit community of students and faculty in an environment of mutual trust and respect. We strive to provide all undergraduate students interested in political science with opportunities to learn more about the discipline by hosting entertaining, informative, and social events that connect them with other students with similar interests as well as professionals. We engage in serious debate which sheds light on the most pressing political issues while advocating for the interests and concerns of over 800 Political Science students. Our ultimate goal is to cultivate a prosperous undergraduate environment for Political Science students.

Our endeavours include the continuation of two conferences, Moot Court and Model Parliament as well as general events such as speaker panels, publishing opportunities with the Journal of Political Studies editorial team, and the third year of our Political Science Mentorship Program designed to make the university experience less daunting and more fulfilling! We send out bi-weekly emails detailing events, projects, department news, and global news.

We proudly publish the Journal of Political Studies (JPS) in partnership with the UBC Department of Political Science. The JPS, one of the longest-running and most highly regarded undergraduate research journals in the country, is entirely student-run, from the editorial board to the graphic designers. The JPS is where we showcase the most exemplary and innovative research in the undergraduate political science community.

Finally, we do our best to bring the UBC Political Science Department closer to what students really need, by presenting policy proposals at faculty meetings.
