PRINT Arts and Crafts Club

PRINT Arts and Crafts Club (standing for PeRsonalized INteresT) aims to provide UBC students with a safe and inclusive environment for students to de-stress and explore their creativity with various practices of art. We are currently celebrating our 14th year at UBC!

We are committed to hosting an array of events across various mediums to support students in discovering their personalized interests. Our most popular events are our bi-weekly workshops and socials where members are able to interact with like-minded individuals to create unique crafts to their heart’s content. We also have many unique collaborations with other UBC organizations such as Anime Club, UBC Botany Club, Common Energy and more!

PRINT Arts and Crafts club hosts the bi-annual Maker’s Market with 4 other clubs that evolved from our Craft Fair in 2022! We aim to create an accessible and low-barrier platform for student-led/local artists to practice their creative entrepreneurial endeavors through creating and sharing their own art. We hope to continue growing the arts and crafts community here at UBC through various socials, workshops, and markets!

What We Do

Our club typically holds 1-2 events per month during the academic year. One of which is usually a workshop with a smaller number of participants, more direct instructions and involves a more complex craft. The other, is a social event which involves a larger number of students, provides more creative freedom and is a simpler craft. In addition to these events, we often host collaborations with other UBC clubs to provide more specific, unique and tailored crafts! To attend our events you do not need to be a PRINT member, but memberships provide exclusive benefits!

UBC Makers Market is a biannual craft fair spanning across five days and hosted in collaboration with 4 other clubs (AMS Artelier, Visual Arts Student Association, Hatch Art Gallery and the UBC anime club). The Makers Market proudly offers a low barrier opportunity, prioritizing first-time vendors, student artisans and small business owners to showcase their handmade creations. Beyond this, UBC’s Makers Market hopes to facilitate meaningful relationships among vendors, including our executives and art-enthusiasts to help them establish themselves within the artistic community. With over 350+ vendors, Makers Market attracts thousands of students, staff and artist lovers to UBC’s Nest to celebrate the diverse artistic talents of local artisans.

How to Get Involved

Our memberships are year round, priced at $10 for UBC students and $15 for non-UBC students. Our benefits include: free access to all of our social events, an exclusive discount for all creative workshops, discounted vendor fees for the UBC Makers Market (and other Craft Fairs events hosted by us), as well as eligibility to vote during the PRINT Arts and Crafts Club Year-End Elections. Members and non-members may attend all events, but we recognize the busy schedule of UBC students, thus participants are welcome to come to as many or as little events as they wish. The link to purchase the 2024/2025 memberships is here

Additionally, you could become an executive member which has many perks! You'll get to help plan the club's events, make important decisions, and participate in pushing the club to new horizons and bigger accomplishments. Some other benefits include networking opportunities within the school, and with other organizations, an experience that looks great on your resume (leadership, marketing, teamwork, communication, outreach skills to name a few), and free supplies at club events!

Teams

Events

The events team is dedicated to bringing inclusive and enjoyable activities to our community. We organize craft projects, source all the necessary materials, and ensure everything runs smoothly on the day of the event. Our team ensures each event is a memorable experience for all participants, fostering a vibrant and supportive environment for creativity.

Marketing

The marketing team is in charge of promoting PRINT's events and initiatives to our community and beyond. We create aesthetically pleasing graphics, connect with community members on our social media platforms, and establish the visual impression and brand image of our club.

External

The external term is responsible for representing PRINT not only within our community but beyond to various small businesses alike. We seek out potential collaborations that would enrich the event and initiatives that we host to create exciting experiences.
