The UBC Tax Assistance Clinic for Students (TACS) is a student-run non-profit club at UBC. Our team manages a free, government-certified tax clinic, while also hosting various events and literacy programs. Our goal is to promote tax literacy and provide our members with valuable networking experience to introduce accounting as a fulfilling and valuable career path.
The tax clinic operates during the second semester of each academic year. With a team of over 150 student volunteers, supervisors, and executives, our primary focus is to help students file their Canadian Income Tax Returns, and our services extend to low income individuals of the Greater Vancouver Area, providing accessible tax filing services for the community. To have the most up to date information on our clinic, please follow our social media or refer to our website.
We provide networking opportunities for students considering a career in accounting. If you are unsure what an accountant does, or would like to learn more about what a career in accounting can offer, our events help connect students with recruiters from public practice accounting firms across the Lower Mainland, from the Big Four to many mid and boutique size accounting firms! For information about the latest events, please refer to our social media.
Our TACS Teaches Tax (TTT) series happens during the second semester of each academic year. In collaboration with campus groups (residences, clubs, organizations, etc.), we host tax education sessions to help simplify the complex Canadian tax system and improve tax literacy amongst students at UBC. We also teach students how to file their own taxes as well, providing a valuable (and necessary) lifelong skill to take with them as students continue with their degree, and even after they graduate! For information about our TTT sessions, please refer to our social media.
